To provide, with respect to diabetes in minority populations, for an increase in the extent of activities carried out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health.
Minority Populations Diabetes Prevention and Control Act of 2005 - Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to increase the extent of activities regarding diabetes in minorities, including: (1) grants for State-based initiatives; (2) prevention research; (3) cooperation with States to determine the national incidence and prevalence in various minority populations and the reasons therefor; (4) National Diabetes Education Program activities; and (5) projects to provide treatment.
Authorizes appropriations to carry out the plan to implement recommendations of the Diabetes Research Working Group of the National Institutes on Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
