To amend the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972 relating to the dumping of dredged material in certain areas, and for other purposes.
Long Island Sound Preservation and Protection Act - Amends the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972 to revise requirements for the dumping of dredged material in Long Island Sound.
Declares that no dredged material from any Federal or non-Federal project containing constituents prohibited as other than trace contaminants may be dumped in Long Island Sound, Block Island Sound, or Peconic Bay except in cases demonstrated to the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (and certified by the Administrator in the Federal Register) where the dumping of such material will not cause significant undesirable effects, including the threat associated with the bioaccumulation of such constituents in marine organisms.
