Mr. Cunningham submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was
referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Supporting the goals and ideals of God Bless America Week.
Whereas the attack on the United States of September 11, 2001 united the people
of the United States and renewed their appreciation for freedom;
Whereas thousands of members of the United States Armed Forces have been
deployed around the globe since that date to fight the global war on
terrorism and to protect our homeland;
Whereas the people of the United States have expressed their strong support for
the members of the United States Armed Forces and their families;
Whereas the people of the United States appreciate the sacrifices members of the
United States Armed Forces have made throughout history and continue to
make while serving their country;
Whereas the people of the United States mourn those who have given their lives
defending liberty in the war on terrorism;
Whereas these sacrifices and losses reinforce the appreciation of the people of
the United States for the greatness of the Nation and what it means to
be an American;
Whereas since September 11, 2001 the people of the United States have displayed
a renewed spirit of patriotism and appreciation for being Americans;
Whereas the Nation has benefited from this increased public spirit and
patriotism;
Whereas the anthem ``God Bless America'' embodies that patriotic spirit and
strengthens the bonds of the citizens of this great Nation; and
Whereas a number of veterans' organizations and community groups have designated
the week beginning November 23, 2003 as God Bless America Week and plan
to hold patriotic events and displays during that time: Now, therefore,
be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring),
That Congress--
(1) supports the goals and ideals of God Bless America
Week; and
(2) encourages the people of the United States to recognize
this occasion by displaying their American flags and
participating in patriotic events.
