Mr. Torricelli (for himself and Mr. Corzine) introduced the following
bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Environment
and Public Works

A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Transportation to require the use of dredged
material in the construction of federally funded transportation
projects.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. USE OF DREDGED MATERIAL.
(a) In General.--Subchapter III of chapter 3 of title 49, United
States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:
``Sec. 354. Use of dredged material
``The Secretary of Transportation shall require, to the maximum
extent practicable, the use of dredged material in the construction of
federally funded transportation projects.''.
(b) Conforming Amendment.--The table of sections for chapter 3 of
title 49, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end of the
items relating to subchapter III the following:
``354. Use of dredged material.''.
