A bill to amend the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act of 1940 to provide that duty of the National Guard mobilized by a State in support of Operation Enduring Freedom or otherwise at the request of the President shall qualify as military service under that Act.

To amend the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act of 1940 to provide 
  that duty of the National Guard mobilized by a State in support of 
Operation Enduring Freedom or otherwise at the request of the President 
           shall qualify as military service under that Act.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. TREATMENT OF DUTY OF NATIONAL GUARD MOBILIZED BY STATES FOR 
              OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM AS MILITARY SERVICE UNDER 
              SOLDIERS' AND SAILORS' CIVIL RELIEF ACT OF 1940.

    Section 101(1) of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act of 
1940 (50 U.S.C. App. 511(1)) is amended--
            (1) in the first sentence--
                    (A) by striking ``and all'' and inserting ``all''; 
                and
                    (B) by inserting before the period the following: 
                ``, and all members of the National Guard on service 
                described in the following sentence''; and
            (2) in the second sentence, by inserting before the period 
        the following: ``, and shall include service of the National 
        Guard, pursuant to a call or order to duty by the chief 
        executive officer of a State, in support of Operation Enduring 
        Freedom or otherwise at the request of the President''.
                                 <all>
