Condemning the National Islamic Front (NIF) Government of Sudan for its genocidal war against the people of southern Sudan and expressing support for the Vigil for Sudan being held at Galvez Park in Washington, D.C.

Commends the Church Alliance for a New Sudan and all the other organizations involved in "Stand Firm: A Vigil for Sudan," September 18 to 24, 2002, in Washington, D.C., for coming together to support the people of southern Sudan, for working to raise the knowledge of the American public about the conflict in Sudan, and for calling the U.S. Government to action. Expresses support for the Vigil and calls on all Americans to join the Vigil in their own communities.

Urges the National Islamic Front and the Sudan People's Liberation Army to achieve a just and lasting peace.

Condemns the National Islamic Front Government for its genocidal war in southern Sudan and for pulling out of the Machakos peace talks.
