Gorton, Mr. Coverdell, and Mr. Inhofe) introduced the following bill;

A BILL
To provide for an investigation and audit at the Department of
Education.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. INVESTIGATION AND AUDIT.
Not later than 6 months after the date of the enactment of this
Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall--
(1) conduct and complete an investigation for fraud at the
Department of Education, including an audit of any financial
statements, with respect to accounts at the Department of
Education that the Comptroller General determines particularly
susceptible to waste, fraud, or abuse; and
(2) submit a report setting forth the results of the
investigation and audit to the Committee on Education and the
Workforce of the House of Representatives and the Committee on
Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate.
