Federal Drug Treatment Alternative Sentencing Act of 2000

Federal Drug Treatment Alternative Sentencing Act of 2000 - Directs a court, upon the conviction of an individual for a misdemeanor nonviolent drug offense under the Controlled Substances Act, to consider sentencing such individual to a term of probation or imprisonment that includes a condition or recommendation of participation in substance abuse treatment, including a rehabilitation program.

Directs the Bureau of Prisons to maintain a rehabilitation program for such offenders sentenced to incarceration.

Requires the Attorney General to study the racial impact of mandatory minimum sentences for controlled substance offenses, their effectiveness in reducing drug-related crime by nonviolent offenders, and the appropriateness of the use of such sentences on nonviolent offenders.
