To improve the Medicare telemedicine program, to provide grants for the development of telehealth networks, and for other purposes.
Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting through the Director of the Office of Advancement of Telehealth, to make grants to eligible recipients for the purpose of expanding access to health care services for individuals in rural areas, frontier areas, and medically underserved areas through the use of telehealth. Authorizes appropriations.
Directs the Joint Working Group on Telemedicine to ensure that individuals representing the interests of rural areas and medically underserved areas are members of the Group. Establishes the mission of the Joint Working Group, among other things, as identifying, monitoring, and coordinating Federal telehealth projects and programs. Authorizes appropriations.
