Amends Senate Resolution 54 (Omnibus Committee Funding Resolution for 1997 and 1998) to authorize supplemental expenditures by the Committee on Governmental Affairs during 1997 for the sole purpose of conducting an investigation of illegal or improper activities in connection with 1996 Federal election campaigns. Directs the Committee to: (1) refer any evidence of such illegal or improper activities involving any Member of the Senate to the Select Committee on Ethics; and (2) submit a final public report of its findings to the Senate by January 31, 1998.
Increases the amount authorized for expenditures by the Committee on Rules and Administration for March 1, 1997, through September 30, 1998. Requires such Committee to continue to conduct hearings on campaign reform.
