A bill to amend chapter 51 of title 18, United States Code, to establish Federal penalties for the killing or attempted killing of a law enforcement officer of the District of Columbia, and for other purposes.
Officer Brian Gibson District of Columbia Police Protection Act - Amends the Federal criminal code to establish penalties, including the death penalty, for the killing or attempted killing of a law enforcement officer of the District of Columbia.
Includes among aggravating circumstances for imposition of the death penalty that the defendant committed the offense against the officer: (1) while the officer was engaged in the performance of official duties; (2) because of the officer's performance of official duties; or (3) because of such officer's status as a public servant.
