Amends the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 to require the Chief of the Forest Service to be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, from among persons who have substantial experience and demonstrated competence in forest land management and natural resources conservation.
Allows the current Chief to continue to serve until the earlier of: (1) the end of the six-month period beginning on the enactment of this Act; or (2) the date on which such person is reappointed or a replacement is appointed.
