To amend the Federal Crop Insurance Act to ensure the continued availability of affordable crop insurance for producers whose farms are located in counties designated as Federal disaster areas because of weather-related conditions.
Crop Insurance Improvement Act of 1997 - Amends the Federal Crop Insurance Act to define "designated disaster area" to include an area: (1) declared a major disaster area by the President; or (2) determined to be a disaster area by the Secretary of Agriculture.
Prohibits the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation from: (1) listing a producer with disaster-area crop losses on the nonstandard classification list; and (2) considering such losses in yield determinations.
