To require the establishment of a Consumer Price Index for Elderly Consumers to compute cost-of-living increases for Social Security and Medicare benefits under titles II and XVIII of the Social Security Act provided after 1999.
Consumer Price Index for Elderly Consumers Act of 1998 - Directs the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department of Labor to establish a monthly Consumer Price Index for Elderly Consumers (age 62 and over) for use in computing cost-of-living increases for benefits provided under titles II (Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance) (OASDI) and XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act.
