To amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to allow compensatory and punitive damages for violations of the anti-discrimination provision of such Act and to provide additional resources to the Secretary of Labor to do studies and outreach on pay disparities.
Fairness for Working Families Act - Amends the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA) to provide for enhanced enforcement of equal pay requirements (also known as the Equal Pay Act of 1963). Increases penalties for violations of such requirements. Provides for the Secretary of Labor to seek additional compensatory or punitive damages in such cases.
Directs the Secretary to conduct studies and provide information to employers, labor organizations, and the general public concerning the means available to eliminate pay disparities between men and women, including convening a national summit and carrying out other specified activities. Authorizes appropriations.
