Correctional Officer Safety and Training Act of 1997 - Requires the Secretary of Labor, in consultation with the Attorney General and national organizations established to provide professional development for correctional officers, to establish voluntary national guidelines to reduce assaults in State and local correctional facilities and to train State correctional officers.
