To amend the Inspector General Act of 1978 to clarify the authority of the Inspector General of the Department of Justice.
Department of Justice Inspector General Reform Act - Amends the Inspector General Act of 1978 to specify that the Inspector General (IG) of the Department of Justice (DOJ): (1) shall have oversight responsibility for the internal investigations performed by any entity of DOJ; and (2) may initiate, conduct, and supervise inspections (currently, limited to audits and investigations), including regarding any DOJ entity.
Requires the head of each DOJ entity: (1) to promptly report to the IG such matters, and under such terms, as the IG determines are necessary to carry out the IG's responsibilities; and (2) upon receiving written notice of an IG audit, inspection, or investigation, to not initiate and to terminate any agency audit, inspection, or investigation on that matter.
