To amend the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure with respect to bail bond forfeitures.
Bail Bond Fairness Act of 1997 - Amends rule 46 of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure (regarding release from custody) to provide for forfeitures of bail if a defendant fails to appear as required by a bond. (Current law provides for bail forfeiture if there is a breach of condition of a bond.)
