A bill to amend title 23, United States Code, to ensure equity in the extent to which businesses located near Interstate and Federal-aid primary highways may erect outdoor advertising signs, displays, and devices, and for other purposes.
Highway Advertising Equity Act - Amends the Federal aid highway program to: (1) specify that the display of outdoor advertising within specified areas adjacent to the Interstate and primary systems shall continue to be permitted in those areas which are not rezoned for other than industrial or commercial purposes after enactment of this Act; and (2) prohibit any State from establishing standards imposing stricter limitations with respect to outdoor advertising signs and devices on the Federal aid highway system than those established under current law.
