To repeal the exemption from disclosure requirements for municipal securities and to promote full and adequate disclosure of political contributions related to the underwriting of municipal securities by banks and securities firms.
Municipal Securities Reform Act of 1993 - Amends the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Federal Deposit Insurance Act to direct the Securities and Exchange Commission and the appropriate Federal banking agencies, respectively, to require persons and insured depository institutions (or affiliates) acting as underwriters, bond counsel, brokers, or dealers for the issuance of new municipal securities to file a disclosure of political contributions with the relevant regulatory agency before the sale of such securities.
