Amends title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act to cover, on an assigned basis, the services of registered nurses as assistants at surgery under Medicare part B (Supplementary Medical Insurance).
Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to recommend to the Congress adjustments in part B payments so that they approximate the costs of the services of physician assistants and registered nurses as assistants at surgery.
