A bill to amend the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 to improve control of acid mine drainage, and for other purposes.
Acid Mine Drainage Abatement Act of 1992 - Amends the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 to authorize the States to set aside: (1) up to ten percent of their annual grants for a special trust fund to redress public health and safety problems beyond 1995; and (2) up to 30 percent for an acid mine drainage abatement and treatment trust fund.
Permits States that receive funds for acid mine drainage treatment to apply to the Secretary of the Interior for grants for such projects which do not exceed 50 percent of project costs.
