A bill to amend the Public Health Service Act and title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide for the prevention, control, and elimination of tuberculosis, and for other purposes.
Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Amendments of 1992 - Amends the Public Health Service Act to authorize appropriations for grants for the prevention, control, and elimination of tuberculosis.
Requires the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to conduct or support research and research training regarding tuberculosis. Authorizes appropriations.
Authorizes grants for the prevention, control, and elimination of tuberculosis for: (1) construction or modernization of outpatient medical facilities serving medically underserved populations; (2) conversion of existing facilities into outpatient or long-term care facilities for such populations; and (3) renovation of inpatient facilities. Authorizes appropriations.
Amends title XIX (Medicaid) of the Social Security Act to mandate provision to eligible persons with tuberculosis of certain drugs and services under Medicaid. Allows a State to limit the provision of case management services to such persons. Adds such persons to provisions defining "medical assistance."
