A bill to require the revision of the management plans for certain federal lands withdrawn from the public domain to implement an alternative management strategy.
High Quality Forests Act - Requires the revision of the management plans for certain Federal lands in Washington State that were withdrawn from the public domain and that are suitable for timber production to provide for: (1) timber harvest rotations of between 150 and 200 years; (2) shelterwood and seed tree regeneration cut systems; (3) periodic thinning and intermediate harvesting to enhance old growth species while maintaining timber production; and (4) no removal of lands from reserves for old growth or old growth-dependent species for at least 20 years.
