Repeals current Federal law which: (1) prohibits military personnel from being entitled to unemployment compensation before the fifth week after discharge or release; and (2) limits the aggregate amount of compensation payable on the basis of active service in the armed forces in any benefit year to 13 weeks of compensation.
Reduces the required length of active service by armed forces reserves for purposes of meeting Federal service requirements for unemployment compensation.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. EXPANSION OF UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO FORMER MEMBERS OF ARMED FORCES. (a) REPEAL OF CERTAIN LIMITATIONS- Subsection (c) of section 8521 of title 5, United States Code, is hereby repealed. (b) REDUCTION IN LENGTH OF REQUIRED ACTIVE DUTY BY RESERVES- Paragraph (1) of section 8521(a) of such title 5 is amended by striking `180 days' and inserting `90 days'. (c) EFFECTIVE DATE- The amendments made by this section shall apply to weeks of unemployment beginning after the date of the enactment of this Act.
