To provide for the labeling or marking of tropical wood and tropical wood products sold in the United States.
Tropical Forest Consumer Information and Protection Act of 1991 - Prohibits, subject to exception, manufacturing or importing any tropical wood or tropical wood product unless labeled with the country in which it was grown and the name of the wood. Provides for civil monetary penalties.
Mandates: (1) an annual report on tropical wood and tropical wood products; (2) a program to assess the progress of tropical countries in managing and conserving their forests; and (3) a report on nontropical wood and nontropical wood products.
