IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES February 6, 1991 Mr. MOODY submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services CONCURRENT RESOLUTION Expressing the sense of the Congress regarding reinstatement of certain public arrival ceremonies to honor the members of the United States Armed Forces who die in the Persian Gulf conflict. Whereas Dover Air Force Base in Delaware is the military installation that initially receives the remains of the members of the United States Armed Forces who die in the Persian Gulf conflict; Whereas the Department of Defense has discontinued the public arrival ceremonies that have customarily been held at Dover Air Force Base during the past 22 years to receive the remains of members of the United States Armed Forces and to honor their memory; Whereas more than 450,000 members of the United States Armed Forces are risking their lives in the Persian Gulf conflict; Whereas the people of the United States share the grief of the American military families who lose loved ones in the Persian Gulf conflict; and Whereas it is appropriate that public arrival ceremonies be held at Dover Air Force Base to receive the remains of the members of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in the Persian Gulf conflict and to honor their memory: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That the Congress urges the Secretary of Defense to reinstate, when feasible, the public arrival ceremonies that have customarily been held at Dover Air Force Base to receive the remains of the members of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in the service of their country and to honor their memory.
