A bill to amend part B of title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 to forgive guaranteed student loans for student borrowers who volunteer for service under the Peace Corps Act or under the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973 or for comparable full-time service as volunteers with a tax-exempt organization.
Stafford Loan Forgiveness and Community Service Act of 1989 - Amends the Higher Education Act of 1965 to revise provisions for the guaranteed (Stafford) student loan program to provide for partial loan cancellation for service in the Peace Corps or VISTA or for comparable full-time service as a volunteer with a tax-exempt organization.
