A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to assist in the recruitment and retention of mathematics and science teachers.
Mathematics and Science Teacher Recruitment and Retention Act - Amends the Internal Revenue Code to allow a tax credit to mathematics and science teachers who: (1) have been full-time employees in public elementary or secondary schools for the previous five years; and (2) have completed during the taxable year at an institution of higher education six credit hours in mathematics, science, or any other subject area for which there is a critical need for teachers.
Allows a tax deduction for education expenses relating to certification as a mathematics or science teacher.
Makes available matching grants to States for math/science secondary school feasibility studies.
