A bill to provide disaster assistance to timber producers who suffered losses of trees due to hurricane Hugo to help them reestablish private timber stands.
Hugo Forestry Restoration Act - Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to assist private timber producers who suffered 1989 losses from Hurricane Hugo to reestablish their timber stands.
Limits assistance to disaster-designated counties in South Carolina, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands.
Requires producers to: (1) develop forest management plans to qualify for such assistance; and (2) request assistance by December 31, 1995. Authorizes cost-sharing where appropriate.
Limits assistance to: (1) 75 percent of costs for producers with 1,000 or fewer acres of timber; and (2) 50 percent for producers with more than 1,000 acres of timber.
Authorizes appropriations.
