IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES May 9, 1990 Mr. KOLTER introduced the following bill; which was referred jointly to the Committees on Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means A BILL To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to repeal the requirement that all nonparticipating physicians file medicare claims on behalf of all of their patients who are medicare beneficiaries. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. REPEAL OF CLAIMS FILING REQUIREMENT FOR NONPARTICIPATING PHYSICIANS. (a) IN GENERAL- Section 1848(g) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395w-4(g)) is amended-- (1) by striking paragraph (4), and (2) by redesignating paragraphs (5) through (7) as paragraphs (4) through (6), respectively. (b) EFFECTIVE DATE- The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply to services furnished on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
