Amends the Export Administration Act of 1979 to prohibit exports to Nicaragua, except for certain medical supplies and foodstuffs.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES January 3, 1989 Mr. SOLOMON introduced the following bill; which was referred jointly to the Committees on Ways and Means and Foreign Affairs A BILL To impose an embargo on trade between the United States and Nicaragua. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That (a) notwithstanding any other provision of law, no article grown or produced in Nicaragua may be imported into the United States. (b) Section 6 of the Export Administration Act of 1979 (50 U.S.C. App. 2405) is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new subsection: `(p) EXPORTS TO NICARAGUA- (1) No goods, technology, or other information subject to the jurisdiction of the United States may be exported to Nicaragua, and no goods, technology, or other information may be exported to Nicaragua by any person subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. `(2) The prohibition contained in paragraph (1) of this subsection shall not apply to exports on which export controls may not be imposed under subsection (f) of this section.'.
