To amend title 17, United States Code, to assure the protection of motion picture copyrights, and for other purposes.
Motion Picture Copyright Protection Act of 1989 - Amends Federal copyright law to provide that the exclusive right to reproduce a copyrighted motion picture includes the right to protect copies of it from reproduction through a process or treatment which prevents or inhibits reproduction.
Declares a person to be an infringer of the copyright of an antifacsimile processed motion picture if that person imports, makes, sells, or distributes motion picture facsimile reproduction equipment. Declares that the importation of such equipment is actionable.
