Amends the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to authorize a State to obligate any remaining Federal water pollution control funds for certain projects in such State if progress toward achieving municipal compliance goals and deadlines of such Act is maintained.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES October 10, 1989 Mr. MCEWEN introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Public Works and Transportation A BILL To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to provide additional flexibility to States in using funds allotted to them for fiscal year 1990. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 201(g)(1) of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1281(g)(1)) is amended by inserting before the period at the end of the last sentence the following: `and except that if a State assures the Administrator of maintenance of progress (as determined by the Governor of the State) toward achieving the municipal compliance goals and deadlines of this Act, the State may obligate its remaining allotted funds in the State under authority of this sentence'.
