Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. ENHANCED EVAPORATION SYSTEM FOR SALINE WATER. (a) RESEARCH PROJECT- The Secretary of the Interior, acting through the Bureau of Reclamation, shall conduct a research project for the development of an enhanced evaporation system for saline water treatment. The project shall be located in the area of the Salton Sea of Southern California. (b) COST SHARE- The non-Federal share of the cost of the project referred to in subsection (a) shall be 25 percent of the cost of the project. (c) REPORT- Not later than September 30, 1994, the Secretary shall submit a report to the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate regarding the results of the project referred to in subsection (a). (d) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS- There is authorized to be appropriated $8,133,000 to carry out this Act.
