To amend title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for the maintenance of participation and vesting rights of participants and beneficiaries under plans resulting from mergers and consolidations of pension plans, transfers of assets between such plans, and plan substitutions.
Pension Rights Protection Act of 1989 - Amends the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and the Internal Revenue Code to provide for maintenance of participant and beneficiary participation and vesting rights under pension plans resulting from: (1) mergers and consolidations; (2) transfers of assets; and (3) substitutions.
