To amend title 18 of the United States Code to modify the mandatory penalty for certain firearms offenses.
Mandatory Sentencing Act - Amends the Federal criminal code to provide that whoever displays, uses, or offers to use a firearm or destructive device during the commission of any felony shall, in addition to the punishment provided for the felony, be imprisoned not less than ten years for a first offense, and not less than 25 years for any subsequent offense. (Under current law, mandatory penalties are of five and 20 years and apply only to crimes of violence or drug trafficking crimes.)
Prohibits the court from suspending such sentence, or allowing the term of imprisonment to run concurrently with any term imposed for the felony.
