To terminate the importation of ivory and other elephant products by classifying the African elephant as an endangered species under the Endangered Speices Act of 1973, and for other purposes.
Save the Elephant Act of 1989 - Requires the African elephant to be listed as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
Expresses the sense of the Congress that the Secretary of the Interior should urge the reclassification of such elephant under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora to end the international trade in ivory.
