Amends the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986 to exempt from its requirements motor vehicles used solely for fire fighting purposes.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES February 22, 1989 Mr. SOLOMON introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Public Works and Transportation A BILL To amend the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986 to provide that the requirements for the operation of commercial motor vehicles will not apply to the operation of firefighting vehicles. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 12019(6) of the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986 (49 U.S.C. App. 2716(6)) is amended by adding at the end the following: `A motor vehicle which is only used for firefighting purposes shall not be included as a commercial motor vehicle under this paragraph.'.
