Expresses the sense of the Congress that, until the President determines that a satisfactory accounting of all POW/MIAs of the Vietnam era has taken place: (1) each State should display the National League of Families POW/MIA flag in or over the State capitol; and (2) local governments should officially display such flag.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES February 21, 1989 Mr. SOLOMON submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Post Office and Civil Service CONCURRENT RESOLUTION Expressing the sense of the Congress that States and local governments should display the National League of Families POW/MIA flag. Whereas more than 2,300 members of the Armed Forces and other citizens of the United States remain unaccounted for in Southeast Asia since the Vietnam era; Whereas the families of these individuals have joined together as the National League of Families to further awareness of POW/MIA issues; Whereas the official POW/MIA flag of the National League of Families symbolizes the commitment of the National League of Families and all the people of the United States to a full accounting of all POW/MIA's of the Vietnam era; Whereas the National League of Families POW/MIA flag is on display in the Capitol Rotunda until a satisfactory accounting of all POW/MIA's of the Vietnam era has taken place; and Whereas 20 States already display the National League of Families POW/MIA flag in or over their capitols, and many local governments officially display the National League of Families POW/MIA flag: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That it is the sense of the Congress that, until the President determines that a satisfactory accounting of all POW/MIA's of the Vietnam era has taken place-- (1) each State should display the National League of Families POW/MIA flag in or over the capitol of such State; and (2) local governments in the United States should take appropriate measures to officially display such flag.
