A bill to amend the Older Americans Act of 1965 to authorize grants to States for demonstration projects that provide to older individuals services in return for certain volunteer services provided to other individuals.
Volunteer Service Promotion Act of 1987 - Amends the Older Americans Act of 1965 to direct the Commissioner on Aging to make annual grants over a five-year period to no more than 20 and, if practicable, to no fewer than eight eligible States for the creation and operation of volunteer service credit demonstration projects through which homemaker services, respite care for families, adult day care, educational services, and transportation and delivery services are provided by volunteers to older individuals in return for the receipt of similar services when they grow old.
Requires each State seeking eligibility for a grant to submit an application describing its proposed program and to provide certain assurances regarding the program's operation. Sets forth reporting requirements.
