A bill to amend the Social Security Act to provide coverage of, and direct reimbursement for, services of nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and nurse-midwives under the medicare and medicaid programs.
Nursing Shortage and Nurse Reimbursement Incentive Act of 1988 - Amends titles XVIII (Medicare) and XIX (Medicaid) of the Social Security Act to provide direct reimbursement for nursing services pursuant to a fee schedule which is to be established by the Secretary of Health and Human Services and be based on the relative value of the resources required to furnish such services.
Amends part B (Peer Review) of title XI of the Social Security Act to require peer review organizations to review nursing services.
