A bill to require the Secretary of Transportation to extend the coverage of certain motor carrier safety regulations to motor carriers operating wholly within a commercial zone, and for other purposes.
Truck and Bus Safety Act of 1988 - Directs the Secretary of Transportation to include within the purview of Federal motor carrier safety regulations those motor carriers and drivers operating wholly within a municipality or the commercial zone of a municipality.
Sets forth conditions under which drivers operating wholly within such areas are exempt from certain Federal regulations regarding physical qualifications and examinations.
Exempts Mexican motor carriers operating wholly within a municipality or its commercial zone along the United States-Mexico border from such motor carrier safety regulations.
