A bill to amend title 10, United States Code, to require that a certain portion of naval vessel modernization, overhaul, repair, and maintenance be carried out at certain public shipyards.
Public Shipyard Mobilization Act of 1988 - Directs the Secretary of the Navy to assign projects for the modernization, overhaul, repair, or maintenance of naval vessels to specified public shipyards as necessary to maintain the workforce, skills, facilities, tools, and equipment at such shipyards at the same levels as existed during FY 1988. Designates the following shipyards for projects: (1) Portsmouth, New Hampshire; (2) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; (3) Portsmouth, Virginia; (4) Charleston, South Carolina; (5) Long Beach, California; (6) Vallejo, California; (7) Bremerton, Washington; and (8) Honolulu, Hawaii.
Requires the Secretary to submit a report to the Congress describing plans for assigning such projects.
