Amends part A (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) (AFDC) of title IV of the Social Security Act to make it clear that a State may include in its standard of need for AFDC applicants and recipients an amount for shelter that varies according to the type of housing occupied.
Eliminates the 30-day per year limitation on AFDC emergency shelter assistance.
Makes it clear that a State need not specify the maximum amount of assistance to be provided for each type of emergency.
