A bill to amend the Communications Act of 1934 so as to enable local cable franchising authorities to specify, in the franchise or by any other means, the cable channel position of local stations.
Cable Channel Shifting Act of 1987 - Amends the Communications Act of 1934 to enable any local cable franchising authority to specify the channel or service tier on which the cable system must carry: (1) any channel designated for public, educational, or governmental uses; and (2) any broadcast signal required to be carried under Federal law.
