Establishes a special commission of inquiry to investigate alleged criminal, irregular, or wrongful conduct in the Presidential election campaign of 1972. Requires the Commission to publish recommendations and reports to safeguard the election process and perfrct the procedures thereto.
Outlines the composition and structure of such Commission.
Directs the Commission to 1) hold hearings, take testimony, receive evidence and administer oaths to witnesses as is necessary; 2) secure from any Government agency or department information necessary to enable the Commission to carry out this Act; 3) obtain from the Administrator of General Services on a reimbursable basis such administrative support as is necessary; and 4) issue subpenas requiring the attendance of witnesses and production of evidence.
Requires the Commission to transmit a report to each House of Congress not later than one year after the date of the first meeting of the Commission.
Terminates the existence of the Commission on the 60th day after the date of transmission of its report.
Appropriates those sums as are necessary to carry out this Act.
