Urges each party to the Lusaka Peace Accord to: (1) observe a cease-fire; (2) refrain from exploiting such assassination; (3) cooperate in the economic reconstruction of Congo; and (4) abide by the Accord and solidify a transitional process that will lead to peace and democracy for the Congolese.
Calls on: (1) the United Nations to continue the cooperative process of applying diplomatic pressures for democratic change in Congo; (2) all governments involved in the Congolese conflict to act in the interest of all the people of Africa; (3) the President and the international community to monitor violence in Congo, to condemn brutality against law abiding citizens, and to work with the Government of Congo and devise strategies for resolution of that nation's internal conflicts; and (4) the President to encourage the United Nations Security Council to consider all options to stabilize the situation in Congo.
